Goold, Shapley & Muir was one of Canada's early pioneers in the gas engine industry. This engine is hit and miss governed. One of its unusual features is its fuel injection system. The injector plunger is operated from a cam that is driven off of the crankshaft. When the engine is at operating speed, the governor pulls the injector cam follower away from the cam, and fuel is no longer injected into the intake.

The injector pushrod is a tube through which the exhaust valve pushrod travels. The exhaust valve operates continuously, and is not locked out by the governor.
